You guys! I read the BEST book last night.
And by "best", I mean so hysterically bad that I want to read it again immediately.
See, our library finally got with the "download this audiobook or ebook for 14 days" train - it joined an online library collective - and I browsed the ebooks last night. Most are romance novels. A couple of them had descriptions I could NOT resist, and since whatwomenread.blogspot.com had posted a couple of times about military romances, I felt like checking one out. I grabbed "Codename: Princess" (ETA: It's by Christina Skye.) and... you guys.
There is a KOALA WITH MAGIC HEALING POWERS. It is referred to as a bear all the time, which = MEGA BONUS POINTS x10 !! Its claws were mentioned a number of times, so I'm thinking Wolverine got desperate at some point when the X-Men were based out of Australia, and this is the result. And the hero, "Hawk", is a Navy SEAL who is on experimental healing meds, WHICH ALSO HAPPEN TO GIVE HIM THE RAGING HORMONES OF A FIFTEEN YEAR OLD (this is mentioned multiple times, complete with the 15yo part). The heroine is severely claustrophobic from childhood trauma, so of course they get stuck in an elevator and have hot hot sex for two hours because his meds make him so horny he can go like a machine. And she gets mixed up in his mission and is just an ordinary woman, but of course her twin sister is an FBI agent who has taught her all kinds of things, so she succeeds where many government agents fail and IT IS SO AWESOME IN ITS BADNESS YOU MUST READ IT.
I AM SERIOUS.
I have not been this entertained by outrageousness in a long time.

If you're feeling charitable this holiday season, I know just what you can do.
If you ever wondered why I support RiverKids, and think you should, too, read this post.
They have the RiverKids Shop stocked with lots of neat items again this year, with many more to come next week. Shipping is only US$5! And so many of the items are AWESOME! I want a couple of the purses, again.
RiverKids also has an Etsy shop, if you want to bookmark it. It's not got a lot of listings right now, I'm sure because the items are all being listed on the other site, but there are still a couple of things there. This is where I got the little purse made out of recycled Coca Cola cans! IT IS AWESOME! And I think I only paid six bucks for it.
You guys, go buy lots of neat stuff for your holiday shopping this year - Christmas, Hanukkah (so many ways to spell, and thus for me to misspell, that word. *takes a chance, and cringes*), solstice, Atheists' Protest of Religious Holidays Day, whatever. The items all come from fair trade type shops, so you're supporting 2 good causes for each item you buy - RiverKids, plus whatever org from which they bought the item!
So. Go forth and buy!
You can always donate cash to RK, too, if you don't feel up to buying things.

Make Me Laugh
Whoever makes me laugh the hardest in the comments of this post will get a photo in the mail. I'll look through the gazillions of pictures I've taken, find one that I think you should own, and send it along.
Get crackin'* and amuse the fuck out of me!
You're more than welcome to comment more than once.
*not to be confused with the Kraken

Well, there went *my* night.
Everyone has those few guilty pleasure songs on their playlists, I know I do. So the deal is that you have to filter through your playlist for the ten (or five or twenty, however many you like) most embarrassing songs on your playlist. You don't have to upload them, but if you want to, go for it. Then pass it on to whoever you want to; no set number.
I will start this by informing you that I have 52 Kylie Minogue mp3s, and that fact does not shame me. Take that into consideration when you're reading this list of songs that R.O.C.K. IN THE USA.
la_woman told me to "go nuts" in the post in which she tagged me, ( so y'all can point the blame thattaway. )
Now I shall continue being a bit distressed that I seem to have misplaced my copy of River Deep, Mountain High by Celine Dion because she actually rocked that cover. The seminal version by Tina Turner seems to have gone missing, too, which is more of a tragedy because...do I really need to explain that one?
